Asia Cup: PCB chief says Pakistan has security concerns for Bangladesh tour

Pakistan has expressed concerns for cricket team’s security in
Bangladesh where controversial elections have plunged the country into
fresh political turmoil, SAMAA reported.

Pakistan is scheduled to
participate in Asia Cup beginning on February 25. Bangladesh will be
hosting the event, however, political strife in the country is worrying
Pakistan and other teams. West Indies have already cancelled its Dhaka
tour owing to security concerns.

A total of 11 games will be
played in the Feb 25 - Mar 8 tournament featuring Sri Lanka, India,
Afghanistan, defending champions Pakistan, and hosts Bangladesh.

Pakistan
Cricket Board (PCB) chief, Najam Sethi, while speaking to reporters at
Lahore airport, said that Pakistan team has security concerns for
traveling to Dhaka.

He said Pakistan would send its security
officer to Dhaka to review security matters, adding that Foreign Office
was also consulted in this regard.

Sethi said Thursday’s ICC meeting in Dubai would also be taking up this issue. - SAMAA
